Des Moines Iowa Personal Injury Attorneys
The attorneys at GRL Law are first and foremost trial lawyers.
To be effective, a personal injury lawyer representing people that have been seriously hurt in car accidents, must be a trial attorney. At GRL Law we are just that.
Trial Attorneys From Day One
Even before graduating from law school, many of the attorneys at GRL Law were trying cases before judges and juries through the Drake University Criminal Defense Advocacy Clinic and Advanced Criminal Defense programs. Upon graduating from law school, all of our attorneys entered private practice where they immediately began interacting with their clients, witnesses, preparing cases and ultimately presenting them to judges and juries.
Constant Trial Experience
Our attorneys early on in their legal careers have defended serious state and federal criminal accusations including murder, kidnapping, rape, vehicular homicide, and narcotics violations; argued before the Iowa Supreme Court, Iowa Court of Appeals and United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit; represented businesses in sophisticated corporate buyouts and related disputes; and represented parents in contested child custody; all in addition to consistently and zealously prosecuting cases on behalf of those Iowans that have been injured or damaged as a result of the wrongful acts of others.
These experiences provide unmatched experience and confidence that inturn translate into success in our serious injury cases. With meticulous investigation skills learned and practiced defending people's rights, patience and decorum gained through delicate family law cases and team-focused cooperation developed through building legal strategies together, we employ skills internalized from endless numbers of horrendous jurisprudence cases in every accident and injury case we handle. That kind of legal determination surpasses aggression, and the result surpasses a job just well done.
Sharp Courtroom Skills
While some firms and personal injury lawyers prefer to focus only on personal injury cases that they can work-up from home or their offices without the need of going into court, at GRL Law we have made a conscious and calculated decision not to strictly limit our caseload to representation of individuals injured in car accidents or by the wrongful acts of others. We do this with a specific purpose in mind; keeping our trial and courtroom skills sharp. By representing clients charged with criminal offenses or in need of assistance in domestic relations or business ventures, our attorneys ensure that we are consistently in court, in front of judges and juries arguing both points of law and fact in the furtherance of our client’s best interest.
Meticulously Throughal Investigations
The majority of all personal injury claims settle without the need of a jury trial. As a result, many attorneys that claim to limit their practice to only those types of cases may not have presented a case to a jury in years. This can result in a lackadaisical approach to case investigation, preparation and presentation that is not necessarily in the best interest of each client. Presenting cases to judges and juries on a consistent basis regardless of the nature of the case encourages the attorney to thoroughly prepare each case and to understand what will be required and expected if and when a case does indeed proceed to trial. This in turn leads to more thorough and productive discovery as well as a superior understanding of the rules of evidence and trial procedure.
Insurance Companies Know Proven Trial Lawyers
Nothing resolves a case faster then a Plaintiff announcing “ready for trial.” The majority of clients obviously prefer to avoid formal litigation and many do, however, the advantage of having a trial attorney on your side is that the opposing insurance company and attorneys know that the case will be thoroughly prepared and that your attorney will be ready, able and willing to take the case as far as is necessary for justice to be served. Insurance companies keep track of and know which attorneys will and will not take a case to trial when appropriate.
A Truly Collaborative Legal Team
GRL Law’s diversification also permits us to take an unusual approach to personal injury cases not commonly seen in the legal community. At GRL Law, we take the team approach to every personal injury case we accept. While one attorney may be the “lead” or primary attorney of record on a specific case, our lawyers assist each other in the researching, evidence gathering, discovery and trial preparation phases of each case. GRL Law is a collaborative law firm where every lawyer, paralegal and employee contributes to the success of each case. Each of our attorneys posses specialized knowledge and experiences that when combined, results in an effective, powerful and persuasive case. One attorney’s knowledge and experience obtained through defending those accused of drunk driving or violation of the rules of the road will routinely assist the firm in requesting and obtaining valuable evidence necessary to establish liability in cases where individuals are injured as a result of similar violations. Another attorney’s specialized knowledge regarding business associations and structures may assist the firm in obtaining judgments that are enforceable against not only the driver of a vehicle, but also against the corporate or business owner of the vehicle or even the CEO’s or principal officers of a responsible business.
Unparallelled Excellence & Resources
As a result of this team approach GRL Law offers a service that cannot otherwise be provided by individualized attorneys or law firms that do not have access to the same resources. We provide a superior service because of how our attorneys work together with one common goal – success for our clients.
Your Best Interest Are GRL Law's #1 Concern
Finally, at GRL Law we represent people. When a potential case comes through our doors. we see an injured person or family in need of our assistance not simply another pay-check. We view personal service and a commitment to our clients as people as our foremost responsibility. Our only concern is the best interest of our clients. We represent people not paychecks.
